Important messages were delivered, highlighting the significant progress the Western Balkans economies have made and forward-looking commitments were taken to address the remaining challenges, continue with the structural reforms and increase the competitiveness.

The OECD SEE High-Level Conference 2018 was held on 24 April in Paris, to support SEE economies in shaping a new reform agenda which strengthens economic competitiveness across four pillars: i) business environment, ii) skills and capacity, iii) economic structure and iv) governance with a total of 17 policy areas.

The conference served as a high-level forum for SEE economies to exchange experiences and good practices in using OECD tools and analysis in their policy reform processes.

To enrich this discussion and reinforce this process, the Competitiveness in South East Europe: A Policy Outlook 2018 publication was launched.

Opening speeches and key notes were given by the OECD, DG NEAR and high level officials from Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
